Our son Jimmy started going to Brooklyn Doodles in the fall of 2020. He is always excited about the things he does at school. He has gained a sense of confidence and pride around the projects he works on. Danielle and the teachers do an amazing job at cultivating a creative learning environment for the children and go above and beyond in introducing new challenges for the kids.
The program seamlessly integrates nature, art, music with learning and play. For example, BKD offered outdoor "forest school" at the beginning of the school year which combined nature themed activities with arts and crafts. I believe BKD has done a great job in preparing Jimmy for pre-k in the fall.
Outdoor Learning
Brooklyn Doodles’ outdoor learning classes offer our children an opportunity to foster an appreciation for nature and the materials of the natural world. Nature-based learning has always been a large component of our preschool curriculum. Natural materials are used in all areas of the classroom to support the children's academic and social-emotional development.
Brooklyn Doodles believes in the philosophy of "bringing nature inside" as outlined in the tenets of the Reggio Emilia philosophy. This connection to nature and natural elements can be found in the sensory processing experiences and enrichment classes we provide. Our outdoor classes offer nature related themes that become the integrating thread that ties together our curriculum for outdoor play and exploration.
